The quarantine-free travel bubble is subject to any future COVID-19 clusters/outbreaks that may lead to lockdowns or flight suspensions. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern stated there won't be a warning period if the travel bubble changes due to the need to respond quickly.

*New Zealand has placed a hold on the travel bubble with New South Wales for at least 72 hours from Tuesday 22 June.

Safety measures

  • When travelling from Australia to New Zealand the booking is called a 'green zone flight'. This means anybody on that flight has been in Australia for the last 14 days. The flight crew will not have flown on any high-risk routes for a set period of time.

  • Travellers are required to provide comprehensive information on how they can be contacted while in New Zealand and the NZ COVID Tracer app needs to be downloaded.

  • Travelling with a cold or flu is prohibited.

  • Masks must be worn while on the flight.

  • Random temperature checks upon arrival.

  • Upon arrival in New Zealand, travellers are taken through 'green zones' at the airport where there's no contact with those arriving from other international destinations.
