A locally-acquired case of COVID19 in Brisbane has led the to the premier asking residents to take precautions and get tested if they show any symptoms. While broad restrictions have not yet been announced, contact tracing is underway at the following sites:

Saturday, March 20

  • Carindale Shopping Centre from 11:00am

  • Baskin Robbins ice cream at Everton Park at 8:00pm

Sunday, March 21

  • Standard Market Company stall at Gasworks at Newstead, 9:00am

  • Mamma's Italian waterfront restaurant at Redcliffe at 12:20pm.

Monday, March 22

  • He worked in Paddington as a landscaper

  • Guzman and Gomez drive through in Stafford at 12:20pm

  • Bunnings at Stafford at 1:00pm

Thursday, March 25

  • Tested at Nundah Village Family Practice, Sandgate Road, Nundah

  • Aldi in Stafford for 10 minutes, no time has been given for this yet.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has also announced that aged care facilities, hospitals, disability care centres and prisons in the Brisbane and Moreton Bay council areas are closed to visitors until further notice.

She has also asked people across Brisbane to return to mask-wearing in public.

“What we are going to ask is people of course in the Brisbane City Council areas and in Moreton, is that if you are in crowded areas, to wear a mask. If you’re going to a football match on the weekend, wear your mask going into the venue. If you are on a crowded train, put a mask on. These are the sensible precautions and we will be updating you over the weekend if there are any more cases.”

Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms should get tested immediately and isolate until you receive a negative result.
